How to view Solid Edge files in FastLook Plus
In an effort to give our users access to Solid Edge files through FastLook, we have developed a filter that will allow a user to use the free Solid Edge Viewer inside FastLook.
The user can access the Solid Edge file types through the FastLook interface and cause the Solid Edge Viewer to appear within the FastLook drawing window. This gives the user the benefit of using FastLook to locate their files. After the file is viewed, all forms of manipulation of the image with be done though the toolbar located at the top of the drawing window.
Requirements:
- Solid Edge Viewer - Download and install the viewer that is available from the Solid Edge website at www.solidedge.com.
- FastLook OCX filter - this is now a standard shipping component of FastLook as of version 12.0.
- Make INI entry in the FLUSER.INI
- Add the following tags to your FLUSER.INI file.
import111=PSM - Solid Edge,ocxin,.psm
import112=PAR - Solid Edge,ocxin,.par
import113=ASM - Solid Edge,ocxin,.asm
import114=DFT - Solid Edge,ocxin,.dft
The above tags should be placed in the [FASTLOOK13] section of the INI. The FLUSER.INI is located in your WINDOWS directory on your local machine. The number following the word "import" must be in sequential order in relation to all the other "imports'.
Once this is all done, the Solid Edge file types should show up as choices in FastLook. Tell FastLook to view a Solid Edge file just like you would a DWG.
